In over 35 years of service to the veterinary community, I have had the privilege of learning from and assisting investigators from such prestigious institutions as Stanford University, Genetech, UCSF, The Scripps Research Institute, California Institute of Technology, Oregon Health and Sciences University, Amgen, University of Washington and many, many other teaching institutions and research facilities.

After graduating from California State University Long Beach in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology, I served as a manufacturer’s representative, distributor sales representative, and founder of two manufacturing/sales/service organizations.

Through invitation, I have given my “Anesthesia—It’s a Gas!” seminars to such varied organizations as the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association, Washington State Veterinary Medical Association, Portland Community College, Oregon State University, and hundreds of private practice and research institutions. In addition, I have conducted both introduction and advanced workshops at the 54th and the 55th National AALAS convention in Seattle and Tampa. My seminar includes the mechanical properties, capabilities, and limitations of inhalant anesthesia systems for animals. In addition, I share my working knowledge of oxygen and ancillary carrier gas systems, waste gas evacuation systems, and OSHA considerations. The Oregon State Board of Examiners in Veterinary Medicine grant veterinarians two hours of continuing education credits for attending my lectures. It is tremendously rewarding for me to give these presentations; and I always learn something new from my audience.

In 1999, the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association honored me with the Industry Representative of the Year award.
