WHY SERVICE VAPORIZERS?
CLINICAL ACCURACY
To ensure the vaporizer is delivering the correct required concentration of anesthetic agent it needs to be professionally serviced. It is recommended this function check be undertaken every thirty-six (36) months.
PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
Complete overhaul (service) of the vaporizer involves replacing all gaskets, seals and "O" rings, removing and replacing wicks, cleaning and calibration and performing leak tests. This procedure ensures trouble free performance during clinical procedures. The vaporizer manufacturer recommends that Halothane vaporizers be serviced every 1 to 3 years and that Isoflurane and Sevoflurane vaporizers be serviced every 3 years in order to maintain the 5 year warranty on these devices.
HEALTH & SAFETY
Unserviced vaporizers have the potential to leak agent into the O.R. atmosphere causing a potential health hazard to the clinicians and their staff.
